Wow, it’s been quite a long time since I’ve graced the internet with my words of not-so-much wisdom about comic books. We’ve gone through another Civil War, the Inhumans and X-Men were on the verge of wiping each other out, Spider-Man’s clones have come and gone, and here we are still waiting for Captain America’s master plan to come to fruition. Since it’s been literal months since I’ve shared my thoughts each week on one select book, I want to catch everyone up on some of what I’ve been reading, my thoughts on a few of the event books, and how I want to continue writing about comics. Batman Beyond, created originally as a continuation of Batman: The Animated Series by Bruce Timm and Paul Dini in 1999, told the story of Terry McGinnis becoming the new Batman in Neo-Gotham. I grew up watching re-runs of this show on Canadian TV, never caring that I’d seen the episodes over and over, it was just that great. DC Rebirth is here to set the DC Universe back on track with all new #1’s taking place 1 year after their respective series. This is also to give time to wrap up the other ongoing books or have their stories catch up. I’ll be honest, I haven’t read a Batman book in a long time but Batman #1 feels like the start of a great series and I think stays true to the character. Going forward there may be some spoilers but like my last review, which you can check out here, I’ll try to keep them to a minimum.
With the Batman v Superman Ultimate Edition coming out soon, I wanted to talk about Lex Luthor’s motivations and resulting actions in BvS:DoJ. There will be major plot SPOILERS so if you haven’t seen the movie yet go check it out and see what you think.
